The Ipswich Senior Fashion Show is one of the most anticipated fundraisers every year for the senior class. The students are able to come out of their comfort zones and put on an entertaining show for parents and supporters of the senior class. This year, it was held on March 13th at the Ipswich Country Club. About 20 small businesses and consignment stores let participants borrow clothing items for the night. These items ranged from prom dresses and streetwear to fishing gear. The participants showed off these looks by modeling across the function room in the Club, surrounded by supporters
The Fashion Show is typically the biggest fundraiser each senior class puts on, and is the main contributor to senior week. Ms. Kjellson, the senior year class advisor, said, “We raised about 11,000 dollars, which exceeded our goal of 10,000.” Money is raised through ticket sales, silent auctions, and donations from businesses and families. The silent auction was open to the public online starting on March 10th, and continued open until near the end of the show. These silent auctions featured fun baskets full of goodies, gift certificates, sports tickets, and more. These items were donated, and each was priced high, ranging from $100 to over $500. Ms. Kjellson explained that donations were the largest contributor to the funds raised. There were levels of donations, from the lowest to the highest: Black and Orange, Silver, and Gold-Level sponsors. These generous families and businesses are a major reason for the senior class’s success.
Not only is our Fashion Show a great fundraising success, but it’s also a perfect bonding experience for the class before graduation. One of our models, Allie Wile, says, “I had so much fun, and I loved being with my friends and people in my grade.” Wiles’ favorite part of the event was everyone in the class coming together at the end to celebrate with our tiger mascot. “It was a full circle moment,” she stated. With the new tiger gear section of the Fashion Show, models like Wile were able to wear their families’ old clothing from when they were students; Wile wore her Papa’s sweater from his high school days. The class practicing their handshakes and fun ways to walk on the runway was a shared interest throughout the class. Wile, like many others, was a bit nervous to walk the runway with such a big crowd, but being with her friends and having fun out there made it so comfortable. Wile highly recommend the Fashion Show to upcoming seniors. She said, “I recommend getting out of your shell, even though it’s uncomfortable; it’s also as much fun as you make it.” Wile explains that she made so many good memories with her friends and classmates. The Fashion Show will be something that the senior class of 2026 will look back on and remember all the fun memories made together.
The Fashion Show will forever be a cherished event that each senior class puts on. Being such a success this year, exceeding their goals for fundraising, and the amazing experience the class had, it will always be remembered. This year’s senior class will get to enjoy their senior week, from the amazing work the class officers, parents, and student models did this year for our Fashion Show.
